Nicaragua, The eternal hope
By the end of 1998, the Hurricane Mitch just devastating Central America, I decided go there and arrived on December 17 of 1998 to Managua city.
Nicaragua was the first of my projects / travels abroad, later I went to many other countries, many histories, many people, but from the frosts mountains in Pakistan to the arid desert of the Sahara I have always a thought for this small Central American country, for my friends.
During those days in 1998 I saw the devastation caused by the hurricane Mitch, I knew through its people about the huge and continuous misfortunes, natural disasters in many cases such as earthquakes, tidal waves, hurricanes, floods, etc ,etc, also political disasters as the American army invasions, the dictatorship of Somoza, the Sandinista revolution, the contra-revolution, and flying all over, the political corruption, all together led Nicaragua to be one of the poorest countries in Latin America as well as around the world.
Nicaragua often is described by its own inhabitants like " a country of survivors", and they are right, Cesar Augusto Sandino showed a way to them, but their Sandinistas heirs did not learned, they fallen into the same old errors against they were fought , and in the middle always this people to whom there is no way to snatch their... eternal hope.
