love
Michael Bassano is a missionary priest originating from Italy, he was born in New York in 1948, Michael belongs to the Catholic congregation Maryknoll, he always wanted become missionary in order to help the most underprivileged.
At the beginning he went to Chile, in the poor communities around Santiago city during the Pinochet regime, 10 years later he wished move to other place in Asia, thus, one day he arrived to Thailand, first developed his missionary work in the poor districts surrounding Bangkok, and later in the indigenous communities in the north of the country.
One day he heard about a monastery where the Aids patients went as a latest resort, after a visit Michael decided stay there for help , since then, Michael shares the latest moments of the diseased, alleviates them in their pain, caresses and cleans up them, cleans their hez and changes their diapers, raises them from the ground when they fall down, and is besides them in their strolls and prayers, he buys food, ice creams and magazines for them, he makes them smile joking in their Thailand language, when someone finally pass away, Michael washes his body, closes his eyes, shrouds him, carries his body to the crematorium and shares the sadness with the few relatives who come to the cremation ceremony, Michael Prays with and for them, and does it according to both traditions, Buddhist and Christian, Michael says that God is the same one in any case.
The people who arrive to the monastery of Lopburi goes there for die, two or three of them each week, it is a constant dripping that never ends, hopelessly and abandoned by their relatives, Michael tries to do bearable so many suffering, he is, without any doubt, a soul touched by the grace of God, an envoy armed with the mercy and the power of Love, sharing some days with Michael I could verify this truth, this absolute certainty.
